Yes! Chalk Track works completely offline. You can log workouts, track sessions, and use all features without an internet connection. Your data syncs to iCloud when you're back online.
Chalk Track automatically backs up to your iCloud account. As long as you're signed into iCloud on your device, your workouts are safely stored and will sync across your iOS devices, and will be there when you buy that new iPhone.
You can export all your workouts as a CSV file from the Settings screen. Tap the export link to save your data. This is useful for creating your own backups or analyzing your climbing data in spreadsheets.
The grade logging feature is optional. It can be used to track attempts, sends and/or projects depending on your needs. I personally use it to track sends above my flash grade.
To use the grade system, simply select the grade you want to log from the dropdown menu. Once you've logged a grade, you can view your progress over time by looking at the grade over time chart in Metrics.

Yes! When you first save a workout, you'll be asked to grant HealthKit permission. Once enabled, all your workouts are automatically saved to the Health and Fitness apps, where they appear alongside your other fitness data.

Live Activities are interactive notifications that appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Chalk Track uses them to show your session timer and rest timer, so you can check your time without unlocking your phone. You can also restart your rest timer directly from the Live Activity.
Yes! Chalk Track is completely free with no subscriptions, no ads, and no in-app purchases. It offers 4 Pay What You Want tiers if you want to support development - All features are available at the free level.
No account required. Your data lives on your device and is backed up to your iCloud account. Just download and start climbing.
Short answer, no. Here at the factory we have prototyped a companion Watch App but there are challenges building a timer based app on the Watch that meets the quality levels we demand. As sonn as we can achieve this, we'll let you know.
In the meantime the live widget does appear in the Watch's Smart Stack allowing you to see session time, remaining rest time, and to restart the rest timer from your wrist.
